Kuala Lumpur, 14th December 2019 –Some 180 children and their caretakers from 4 charitable homes and orphanages feasted during a jolly Chinese New Year celebration hosted by The Budimas Charitable Foundation. The homes were namely; Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Berkat Kasih (House of Love), Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, House of Joy and Pusat Jagaan Kebajikan Kanak – Kanak Budimas Orion. The joyful event took place at the Pusat Komuniti Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar to inculcate the spirit of togetherness and it was gracefully officiated by Mr Steve Teoh, the Board of Trustees of The Budimas Charitable Foundation.

The event kicked off with the customary traditional lion dance, and followed with many interesting activities that were conducted throughout the entire evening. The children were delighted to an array of Chinese cuisine for dinner which was followed by a fun competition between the homes. The homes competed in making the longest firecracker decoration made out of ‘Ang Pows’ within 30 minutes. The spirit of teamwork was indeed cultivated through this activity as they battled time and resources to win the contest. Guests and children were also entertained with a musical number using harmonicas by the children of House of Love.

Principal Officer of BUDIMAS, Anne Rajasaikaran said the event was to share the festive cheer with the unfortunate to show that they have not been forgotten during the Chinese New Year. “We at BUDIMAS annually organise merriments like such for the 4 main festivals celebrated in Malaysia in hopes that these events would encourage the children to learn about living harmoniously in line with the foundation’s vision which is to provide a future of love and hope.
